 Patna devi chalisgaon

A very fascinating very peaceful, beautiful and historic place near chalisgaon  surrounded by beautiful nature and sanctuary named gautala and the place where bhaskaracharya  born is the patna devi chalisgaon mandir. Actually the name is chandika devi mandir but the mandir is placed near village named patna so local and all people called it as patna devi mandir.

My whole family is travel addicted we find very interesting places near our town and travel every week. Our family friend mr.pawar uncle saw our week trips every week and they very well known about our trips so they suggested us to visit and see patna devi mandir which is situated at gautala santury near challisgaon.

He told my dad about the place and said that place is very known to that area like a tourist spot and have very peaceful environment so dad asked us to pack the essentials and we are going to patna devi mandir to visit that place

So, the essentials are packed and we set our location to that mandir and started our journey towards it with a lit ‘kishor kumar’ songs which gave us nostalgia in trip.  We didn’t have much knowledge about the place, the areas and history of the mandir but we have trust on quote “unknown locations are always awesome”.

The mandir is approximately 170 kilometers away from our hometown nashik and the mandir is situated near chalisgaon that means we have 4 hrs of travel time tillthe destination arrives. and we travelled by our car with nostalgic music as mentioned above

Near hirapur station we took right turn and leave chalisgaon road and after some time we arrived at the gate of the gautala sanctuary and made entry to take darshan of patna devi chalisgaon tirth and entered in the forest of the sanctuary

After parking our car we saw a beautiful market liked stawls which are selling pooja materias, photo of chandika mata, and lot of religious stuff and then after crossing that stawls we see a pathway which go to the mandir which includes some bridges build over the river. And then after that path we see a beautiful historic creation the mandir of chandika devi with a huge staircase made of stones and after these stairs we saw the beautiful and ancient mandir.

histoy of the patna devi chalisgaon

Beautiful mandir of patna devi  chalisgaon was built in 12th  century and it is one of the best hemadpanthi styled mandir in India. In year 1228 the mandir  was opened to all people

In ancient times prajapati  daksh who was father of sati wife of god shiva made a putrakameshti yagya and and didn’t invited god shiva to the yagya but of requests of narad muni maa sati was ready to go to attend  the yagya .  But here she is insulted again. When mother Sati is insulted, she removes the life from her own body, so her body falls in the Yajna mandapa. As soon as Mahadev understands this, he gets angry and takes her corpse in his hand and starts dancing Tandava. At that time, his third eye also opened, causing tremors everywhere. In order to calm them down, Lord Vishnu cuts the corpse of Sati with Sudarshan Chakra. Legend has it that Adishakti's awakened Varadahastha Shakti Peetha was formed here when a piece of his right hand fell at Patna. Govinda Swami, the first worshiper of the Goddess, performed penance and pleased Chandike. Govind Swami requested Bhagwati to come down from the high ridge for the devotees. While Bhagwati said yes, Govind asked Swami to move forward without looking back. They hear strange noises near Dhawaltirtha. They look back to see if Bhagwati is behind. At the same time she disappears. Govind Swami performs penance again. Bhagwati was pleased. Bhagwati says that when you take a bath in the pool, my self-made idol will come into your hands. Govind Swami has set up a self-made idol of the same stone in the temple of Patna Devi chalisgaon. - source wikipedia
